There is so much information on the internet that one can access. Why would anyone want to hire a fitness coach?. Every day a new exercise is invented -posted on social media, followed by 10000000 likes, next day, everyone is doing that exercise, just like a new song that has to be on everyone’s playlist.

We are not trying to demean anyone here, but most of the exercise that keeps floating on social media are hideous, and probably you don’t need to do that, or you are not yet ready for it and some influencers post atrocious videos.

Let us look at CrossFit. Everyone wants to be a like Rich Froning or Matt Fraser. These guys are elite athletes and train under supervision, followed by all the post-training recovery protocol. Now, if someone is going to copy-paste their workout, “GOD BLESS YOU”.  There can be multiple examples like these.  There are so many people out there who can’t figure out why they are not losing weight or getting injured every time. The most common belief about training is “I know the exercise.” Knowing the exercise and applying it when and where in your program is the most critical part of programming.

A Fitness coach is not someone who makes you do fancy exercise or is just trying to sweat you out.

How does a coach help you:-

Injury-free: The fitness coach will help minimise the risk of injury by working on correct movement pattern, giving movements that you need, and performing without any risk of injury.

Training Program: This is very important. Without a plan, we take one step forward and two steps back. A fitness coach can help you plan your training program as per your goals and needs, keeping in mind different variable of volume, load and intensity.

Educate you: Yes, a good fitness coach will continuously educate you, making you better and independent.

When to push and when to stop: A coach will always be there to help you try more when you feel you cant at the same time, The coach will stop you when he feels you shouldn’t be pushing more. This is challenging to modulate when you train by yourself and without any guidance.

Achieve Goals.   Pick any Olympic athlete or sportspeople of any level he/she will have a coach to guide him; why is that? He is good himself and has been training for years but he understands a coach’s value. A coach will help you to reach your goal faster and more healthily. Even coaches hire professionals to achieve their desired goals.

The bigger picture: A coach will always look at a bigger picture and have a long term plan.

Post-injury Rehab: Science is evolving every day, so is fitness. Fitness certification is not just about training or building muscles, it beyond that. Fitness coaches have a broad spectrum of clients, from building muscle to weight loss, post-injury rehab to sports specific training.  Fitness certification has become more challenging then before. Certification emphasis a lot on rehab in their syllabus, which helps coaches to handle clients with any kind injuries within their capacity. If you are recovering from an injury, a fitness coach is a must to help you recover faster, safer and get you back to the game.

Motivation and Accountability:   Why do we lack motivation to train? there can be various reason from not getting results or weight loss plateaued, all this can be very frustrating. A fitness coach will become your motivator. Coaches always motivate their clients to perform better, making sure their client perform at the highest potential consistently and not let any failure to de-motivate them. Clients have no reason to miss the workout when he knows the coach is waiting for him/her.

Work on Muscle imbalance: Muscle imbalance is painful, leading to all kind of aches and pain in the body. If neglected can cause severe damage. The fitness coach will help you identify your muscle imbalance, postural problem and work accordingly with corrective measures to fix it.

A fitness coach will look at your fitness in a significantly broader spectrum. When he looks at fitness, he would think of every minute details like sleep, nutrition, mobility, strength, postural correction,  supplementation,  mental health and post-training recovery.

Next time you meet your fitness coach, give him a hi5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
